I used the Sense and Sensibility Regency Gown pattern as a base to draw up a pattern and then changed seamlines and cut and shaped until it came out right.
The jacket is sewn on the machine but all top stitching and hemming is done by hand.

Beautiful... I love it. I hope to someday be able to sew that well.

I admire your regency work (actually all of your work, but regency most of all). This year I plan to be Lizzie Bennet for Halloween, which is really just an excuse to have a costume from Pride and Prejudice and to walk around like Lizzie. Haha. I love everything they wear in that movie! By chance, could I possibly pay you to make me Lizzie's costume from the Netherfield Ball? That would be quite delightful, but if you can't, I fully understand. Please e-mail me back at star_wars_nerd91@hotmail.com (what a nerdy e-mail address!)
Thanks,
Jamie
Stunning. You did an amazing job.
I love your blog! I'm a reenactor, doing mostly French & Indian, but have started Civil War this summer, and will be starting WWI in the Spring. I LOVE the jacket you made! The 2005 Pride and Prejudice is my favorite version, and I've often thought about making clothes that are similar. I like that they used pre-regency styles for most of the Bennet clothes. I do like regency clothing, but I don't think it flatters most women, especially if they are the least bit chunky (like me)... though you look just right for the style!
I'll be putting you on my favorites list, so see you online soon!
Sorry -- the anonymous post was mine. Somehow, I didn't get my information typed in before the post was saved.
Hey there! You should make a post about your etsy shop on here so that people can find it. Love you "Lizzie"

Your Regency costumes are very, very nice. I invite you and your regency friends to the RSA Community Forum to share your costuming experiences--we're all Regency freaks, and many of us are costumers. Nice work!
beautiful! You have done a wonderful job and it turned out really well
So pretty! I got this link through A Joyful Handmaidens site and have spent a little while admiring your work. I love your regency projects! The fact you've done so much by hand is astounding to me. I'm not yet that brave! :)
Woow Great job. I love your dresses.
I want a dress like this for me.
Beautiful works of fashion.

That is beautiful! I love it. I love all of the dresses in that film. I hope someday I will be able to sew as good as that.
Question!
Do you have patterns for all yout creations or are you just looking then making? If you are.... WOW! I hope I am as good as you someday! But my friend Sarah who is also following you, is another genius at sewing.

Are these available on rent.
It was certainly interesting for me to read this blog. Thank author for it. I like such themes and anything that is connected to them. I definitely want to read more on that blog soon.
I suggest this site to my friends so it could be useful & informative for them also. Great effort.
What fabric did you use for the jacket?
I love your work.
I'm not sure what fabric it was...I bought a bolt that was uknown fiber content, but it reminded me of cotton twill. :)
Thanks for commenting!
