Jane Bennet House Coat Replica

I loved this jacket Jane wears in the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice so I just had to make it!

I used the Sense and Sensibility Regency Gown pattern as a base to draw up a pattern and then changed seamlines and cut and shaped until it came out right.
The jacket is sewn on the machine but all top stitching and hemming is done by hand.

    I admire your regency work (actually all of your work, but regency most of all). This year I plan to be Lizzie Bennet for Halloween, which is really just an excuse to have a costume from Pride and Prejudice and to walk around like Lizzie. Haha. I love everything they wear in that movie! By chance, could I possibly pay you to make me Lizzie's costume from the Netherfield Ball?     I love your blog! I'm a reenactor, doing mostly French & Indian, but have started Civil War this summer, and will be starting WWI in the Spring. I LOVE the jacket you made! The 2005 Pride and Prejudice is my favorite version, and I've often thought about making clothes that are similar. I like that they used pre-regency styles for most of the Bennet clothes. I do like regency clothing, but I don't think it flatters most women, especially if they are the least bit chunky (like me)... though you look just right for the style!

    I'm not sure what fabric it was...I bought a bolt that was uknown fiber content, but it reminded me of cotton twill. :)
